"The Pet Pulse"
Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
Hello everyone!
Time for another exciting, information-packed
edition of the Pet Pulse, the online newsletter for the Animal
Adoption Foundation. Let's take a look at what's been going on!
Volunteers
Needed...we will be participating in several events
this coming weekend and we need your help. The events and times
needed are as follows:
BarkFest,
Saturday, September 13th from 9 am-2:30 pm at Liberty Park in
Liberty Township.
Barktoberfest, Saturday,
September 13th from 11 am-6 pm and Sunday, September 14th from 8:30
am-5 pm at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati.
Pet Days at Best Buy from
12 pm-3 pm at the Best Buy at Bridgewater Falls.
Because the length of the Barktoberfest event, we
are breaking it up into two shifts: 11-2:30 pm and 2:30-6pm on
Saturday. Sunday: 8:30-12:30pm and 12:30-5pm.
Anyone interested in participating in any of the
events, please call us at 513-737-PETS.
She Found A Home...You
may remember that in the last issue of the Pet Pulse, we were
looking for a permanent home for Annie...the FeLV positive calico
kitten. We were able to place her with Save The Animals
Foundation. They are a nokill organization with policies in line
with the AAF and their shelter has a wing dedicated to FIV and FelV
positive cats and kittens. This way, Annie can run and play with
other cats and live out her life without having to live in a cage!
We Need Cat Litter and
Bleach!...Because of the large number of cats and
kittens in the shelter we are going through A LOT of cat litter and
bleach. If you are interested in donating these items or anything
else, please feel free to drop it off anytime. Remember that
donations maybe tax-deductible and we can provide you with the proper
paperwork for your taxes.
Get Your Golfin' Shoes
On...We still golfers for the first ever Waggin'
Tails Golf Scramble being held on Friday, September 26th at the
Pebble Creek Golf Club. In order to make it a successful event, we
desperately need your help. It is only $400/foursome which includes
and Chicken and Ribs dinner, 18 holes of golf with a cart and all
the beverage (including beer) you can drink. If you are interested,
please, please call us at 513-737-PETS.
Webite Survey...You
can now tell us what you think of our website by taking a moment to
fill out a short survey. This way, we know what you like about the
site and what may need to be improved. Your valuable input is
greatly appreciated!
Be On The Lookout For The
New Newsletter...Our new newsletter will be arriving
at your doorstep in the very near future. If you are not currently
on our mailing list and would like to receive a hard copy of the
newsletter, please let us know and we'll be happy to send one to
you!
We Need Some Wheels!...The
AAF is searching for a cargo van type vehicle in order to transport
dogs and cats to and from the veterinarian as well as to take to
offsite events for adoption. Ideally we would like the vehicle to
be donated but if we can get a super deal, we could pay a little for
it. So if you or someone you know if looking to unload a van, just
let us know...again remember, all donations maybe tax-deductible...and
we can even put your name on the side of the van to show everyone
just how much you care!
Home Sweet Home..Teddy,
the deaf and partially blind border collie has finally found his
forever home. A very nice couple from just outside of Detroit,
Michigan made the drive down with their two dogs to meet with
Teddy. After the dogs quickly learned their pecking order, everyone
got along just fine and the next thing you know Teddy is making the
trip north with his new family. Teddy is doing great and we wish
him all the luck in the world.
Just Saab!...Each
year, Just Saab of Cincinnati holds a Saab Car Rally and this year
the AAF will be one of their stopping points. We are excited to
host the stopping point and Just Saab of Cincinnati is collecting
donations that will be dropped off at the shelter when they arrive.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 21st. We want to thank
Just Saab for thinking about the AAF and it should be a fun day for
all involved.
Foster Homes Needed!...Want
to help out the AAF but don't have a lot of time? We are always
looking for foster homes for cats and dogs. Fostering is fun and
its easy. You would simply keep a cat or a dog in your home for a
day or two...sometimes as long as a week...enough time to allow us
to provide space for the pet in the shelter. The more foster homes
we have, the more animals we can help. All foster pets will be
vet-checked prior to going to the foster home and we provide all
food and will pay for all medical expenses while the pet is in your
care. If you are interested in joining our Foster Team or would
like more information, please give us a call at...you guessed it,
737-PETS.
Volunteers Needed for UCAN
Spay/Neuter Clinic!...If anyone would like to assist
in our monthly spay/neuter clinics, we could certainly use it.
Tasks would include helping out with customer check-in and
check-out. The shifts would be either 7AM-8AM or 11AM-2PM. If you
are interested, please call the shelter at 513-737-PETS.
Thank you all for reading and
thank you for all you do to help those four-legged friends who
cannot help themselves.
Sincerely,
Eric Johnson
