"Now This Is What The AAF Is All About"

For any of you who may have stopped into the shelter any time in the last 2 years was certain to have seen "Ollie", the Great Dane.  He was certainly hard to miss in his plush "dorm" room complete with his own futon.  Ollie came to the AAF after his owner passed away.  He had developed some behavior issues due to the tragic nature of his owners death, including a bite history.  A great big dog like Ollie with a bite history wasn't exactly the easiest dog to place in a forever home.  The volunteers at the AAF looked at Ollie as a project and took this project on with pride and determination.  Jeff Silverman of "Training Tracks" assisted AAF volunteers in learning what steps to take to help Ollie overcome some of his fears.  Dedicated volunteers spent many hours with Ollie and over time he learned to trust people again and developed many wonderful relationships.  We felt that Ollie was ready to take on a foster home and a young lady named Jennifer decided to give it a try.  After spending three months with Jennifer and overcoming many obstacles, she decided that Ollie had found his forever home.  Ollie now has three brother and sister doggies that he completely adores.  We want to thank all of the AAF volunteers, Jeff Silverman and Jennifer for their part in giving Ollie's story a very happy ending!  We will miss the big guy!
