AAF Canine Adoption Readiness & Enrichment (CARE) Program

As you may know AAF is in the process of revamping its educational programs for volunteers. To this end, NEW volunteers will progress through a series of Levels (currently 3 Levels for dogs & 2 for cats) as their time and interest allows. Existing volunteers (i.e., volunteers who have been involved prior to 6/15/10), may choose not to do the new Levels but are MOST welcome and encouraged to participate. In any event, the first Level 2 program will be offered at the dates and times below.

Level 2 - CARE program: This program is for AAF volunteers who, at a minimum, have completed Level 1 (Orientation). This 2-hour program covers: canine body language, clicker training exercises that can be done indoors, cleaning protocols to maximize canine wellness, Kong preparation (find out the secret recipe), etc. Because we will be working in AAF's kennel areas, participants must be 15 years of age or older. Free and no need to pre-register.

LEVEL 3 - CARE program:

This program is for those who have completed Level 2-CARE program (Dogs) including the 10 hours of practice. In this session volunteers will: develop leash skills for walking dogs, review various leash and harnesses, discuss canine play behavior and body language, and refine skills from Level 2.
